Safe Haven Equine Warriors (SHEW) is a Maryland-based nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the humane treatment of all equines. Our primary focus is to rescue, rehab, re-train, and re-home equines either suffering from abuse and neglect or those in imminent danger of slaughter, abuse, or neglect. We are committed to educating the public on responsible equine ownership and care, as well as the perils equines are facing in today’s society.
SHEW’s vision is to create an all-inclusive organization where horses can find new beginnings and where horse owners have an excellent resource to call upon. We strive to set up the next generation of veterinarians, horsemen and horsewomen, trainers, and equine welfare advocates so our community will have a sustainable support structure for all future generations.
